As of January 1st this year, Texans have been allowed to carry their gun in a visible manner, legally. Gun control was the topic of 2015 as I am sure it will be a major topic in 2016. And although Texas as a whole decided that Open Carry should be legal, there is a war between Texans for and against this now. At a barbecue shop in Cypress, TX customers receive a 10% discount on their entire bill if they have their gun showing. Okay, like we get it pro-gun people, it's legal now but you gotta calm down. Businesses are allowed, though, to put up very large signs that notify their customers that in their businesses Open Carry is not okay. This may risk the businesses customers though. People for Open Carry could say that they feel unsafe entering anywhere without their guns while people against Open Carry could say that they feel unsafe in the presence of visible guns. And so, no matter what decisions businesses decide to make, they are risking their success. I personally do not understand why this is legal. My mom made a good point the other day though. That if anything if someone has their gun showing, they are less likely to use it. If someone were planning to do something terrible involving a gun, the last thing they would want to do is flaunt the fact that they were armed. But, this is only an assumption. !!!!!!! Why Texas?!

This is probably one of the most controversial issues in the U.S. right now. The reasons for open carry or against open carry are literally the exact opposite, and to me, they both make great cases. I find it interesting to see how state governments and companies deal with the issue.
ReplyDeleteI personally feel unsafe in the fact that people can now openly carry a weapon. But I also understand, it is "a way of protection" and "way of live". However,I agree that people shouldn't flaunt the law in the way the barbecue restaurant did.
