I can't say I am totally against hunting. Would I personally hunting or go along with someone who is hunting? No. But the way I see it is that we humans are essentially animals and just like other animals, we kill our prey so that we may eat them. I do not understand the whole hunting for fun and not for food thing, though. Anyway, this past week in Florida two men were in a wooded area, Oak Hill, hunting together when one of them accidentally shot and killed his own friend. I feel really bad for the guy who did the killing, I genuinely believe it wasn't his intention to go on a "fun" hunting trip and accidentally have his friend as his target. What is sad about this is that this is one of any cases. In states where hunting is more common, children get their first gun at a really young age and I just see that age going down more and more each year. The man who misfired was 56 while his friend was 65. I mean, these are grown men who probably did know what they were doing and just made one dumb mistake. But I won't believe anyone who tells me that a child can be experienced or trained enough to handle a gun. No one should be handling guns, really, but that's a whole other blog post. My point is that one can never be too careful and while I believe mistakes happen, you can never be too careful. And so, if a hunter is reading this, remember the following: 1. Do not do it just for fun, at least eat the animal. 2. Know what you're doing and don't be stupid.
