Article: https://www.studentnewsdaily.com/blog/human-interest-news-stories/train-goes-extra-mile-for-single-passenger/
Summary: This article is about a girl in a rural town in Japan, who is the single passenger on an old Train. Every day, the train make two stops in a remote part of town just so that this girl can get to school. The Hokkaido Railway has been praised for its dedication to its single customer and plans to close the railway down when the girl graduates. This also draws attention to Japan's population decrease, and how most of its population is living on the country side because of decreased job oppurtunities.
Analysis: This article relates to US history in the fact that it shows how much railroads are needed, which is why in America during the Gilded Age they became very popular and are a major staple of that era. It also relates to the progressive era in the fact that During the Gilded age, the progressive era and gilded age, people from other countries came to the United States for economic opportunity. I definitely find it interesting how dedicated the company is to it's single passenger. If many people ran businesses like the Hokkaido Railway does, this world would be a much nicer place.
That's nice of them to do it for that one girl
