Obama to push to clear leftover Vietnam-era bombs Desiree Smith period 4

The U.S. spent $2 million per day for nine years to bomb Laos, but only an average of $4.2 million a year for clearance of  ordinance and victims' assistance over the past 20 years, according to Legacies of War.In 2010 Congress mandated that the U.S. government give at least $5 million for unexploded ordnance removal.

TeamworkShe has found willing partners in Leahy and aide Tim Riser, who hope to secure funding of about $20 million per year to put Laos on track to clear most of the country within 10 years.
