Madi Thoele, Period 4: Deadly Blizzard Hits East Coast

Summary: The gigantic winter storm that's hit the East Coast of the U.S. is fortunately moving farther towards the Atlantic, but the problems aren't over. Groups try to clear the roads of snow before the work week starts. Sunshine and warmer temperatures are expected on Sunday, January 24th, but meteorologists are worried about ice, which could make roads more dangerous. On the coast of New Jersey, flooding is a major concern as citizens watch out for rising waters. The storm has brought over 3 feet of snow to some places, killed 14 people, cancelled thousands of flights and shut down travel in the nation's most populous city, New York City. CNN meteorologist Sean Morris said that snowfall in most of the major cities will probably finish early Sunday morning, except for some few and far-between flurries.
Analysis: That's good that some meteorologists are predicting the end of this storm. This event can be related to the Great Depression (1929-1939) because both affected a very large span of land and people in the U.S., and one of the worst cities was New York City. They also both hindered people who were trying to work and had a lasting effect on the U.S.

  1. Wow, I didn't even know that there was a blizzard going on, but when I asked my sister about it, she said someone we know is stuck on New York and can't travel anywhere. I hope that the meteorologists are ugly and it will be over soon.
