Nowadays, so many Americans have Netflix so that they can binge on their favorite TV shows and watch countless movies. Netflix doesn't have everything and seasons for shows only come on after the whole season is over, but the convenience of having hours of chosen entertainment-with no commercials- is enough to make anyone hooked. However, according to this article, millions of Americans are cancelling their subscription to Netflix. Why? Because of a new site called Flixhangar. The reason that it seems so appealing is because they are letting people sign up for free, which is the only way they could beat Netflix for members. The article says that the website has a good selection is movies that are high quality.

After reading this article, which pulled up while I was looking for an article on yahoo news, I decided to do a little investigation of my own. Apparently, the site has a 30% for safety by customers, and I wanted to know why. It is a popular website, but it might have random charges. The website Flixhangar asks for credit card information, even though it says that the total is $0. The article I read about this had an update, saying that the website had said that the last day to get an account is 1/24/16, which is today's date, and they are only offering it to Texans. This to me sounded much to convenient and suspicious. Apparently, it said that for someone else, and when he checked back again, it then changed to date to the date he was looking at the site again. This offer seems to be gilded, like the Gilded Age, a term coined by Mark Twain, because it means "gold" that is just worthless material covered in gold to make it seem great. He called it this because even though everything in America seemed wonderful and prosperous, there was terrible corruption. This new site seems great, but after investigation it is probably a con. My advice, stick with Netflix (even if it doesn't have the best Disney movies).

It's probably a scam
ReplyDeleteIf its asking for a credit card number, its definitely a scam. I'm a Netflix fan myself.
