X-Files is being rebooted, and actress Gillian Anderson says that she was offered less than half the pay than her male co-star David Duchovny. While she was eventually able to fight to get equal pay, she said she was appalled because she had to deal with the same exact problem back in the 90's during the original series. Then, the fight took her 3 years, so she was so shocked and frustrated when the producers did the same exact thing to her.
This is so maddening how this kind of disparity between men and women has continued for so long, and I feel so bad for her, because she's fought this battle before and shouldn't have to again. Although we have come a long way from women having absolutely no political power and having to fight for their basic rights and suffrage, we still have a ways to go.

ReplyDeleteI agree- it's unbelievable, especially with the amount of publicity surrounding the issue as of late, that equal pay is still not in effect.

I would've just quit, because fans will be disappointed if they don't have as much of the original cast back as they could have and then it would suck and people would stop watching it and it would be the producer's problem.
