After two years astronauts have finally grown a flower in space. This is not the first thing that has ever been grown in space as they have successfully grown lettuce but this is the teams first plant that blooms. They are called zinnia flowers and can be eaten and are a very pretty orange color. There is some debate on whether this flower or a sunflower was the first but either way this is a huge milestone in space history. This may even be the beginning of growing our food in space instead of on farms. The plants may even be grown aeroponically which means it wont have soil but get water from the air. They don't need as much water or pesticides as there are no bugs. This can be connected to the industrial era when there were more cities and farms very becoming smaller and smaller. Who knows maybe one day the majority of the food we buy will be from space.
