Zoe Norton-Rodriguez//9th//Fox News suspends two commentators for profanity while criticizing Obama

Zoe  Norton-Rodriguez

Ralph Peters, an strategic analyst for Fox news used profanity in speaking about the president. In the same day Stacey Dash also used profanity in a discussion about Obama's speech on terrorism. They were both suspended for two weeks by Fox News because Fox " doesn't condone bad language.

This is a matter of the first amendment, freedom of speech. This would be fine if this happened on a more informal news show such as the daily show or the Colbert report but this is Fox News, a station that is supposed to be reliable and trusted. This shows that freedom of speech has limits.

  1. While I believe in freedom of speech I don't think it was meant to be used to talk about someone as rudely as they did.If you are a true reporter, you should have a large enough vocabulary to express your ideas and feelings without profanity. Most high school students could express themselves without cussing, especially when addressing the President.

I think that even if your not a fan of President Obama and even if you don't agree with what he's doing there's an extent at which you can bash him. Also, he's in an important position having to make decisions that shape a nation, so maybe these people should refrain from talking smack about him and consider his daily going-ons.
