SUMMARY: A new and recent technology has uncovered the layers of Leonardo di Vinci's world famous painting, the Mona Lisa. This is extremely cool technology that looks into the layers of the painting and paper, which reveals sketches, mistakes, and the many layers it took to make this masterpiece. While looking through the scan's results, scientists found multiple portraits within the painting. Now these were covered up or erased by di Vinci, but the real question is, did Leonardo layer the portraits to create a fictional portrait or are they all of the same women?
ANALYSIS: This is awe inspiring and very strange. This painting is more than 500 years old, don't you think we would know what the painting was of or who it is of? The woman thought to be seen in the painting was Lisa del Giocondo, a Florence merchant's wife. What are we going to do if this technology proves to be the truth and it actually isn't Lisa. Why are you playing with us di Vinci?

ReplyDeleteawesome story. It's weird that it's not her smile. It makes me wonder whos smile it really it and why he didn't just paint Lisa's?
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool, because this painting as always been a mystery, especially since many experts can't figure out why di Vinci would spend so much time on painting a merchant's wife. It's amazing to me that even after all of this time, we are creating new technology that can teach us more about this wonderful painting.
