Jerry Falwell Jr., the Liberty University President, is insisting his students, faculty, and staff get a permit to carry concealed weapons on campus. He says this is just incase of an emergency situation like a few days prior in California. His remarks were applauded but "seemed to target Muslims". Although his comments were not applauded by everyone, such as Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. McAuliffe states that "My administration is committed to making Virginia an open and welcoming Commonwealth, while also ensuring the safety of all of our citizens," McAuliffe said in a statement issued late Saturday. "Mr. Falwell's rash and repugnant comments detract from both of those crucial goals."
I do see both sides to this issue, but I don't think he should be encouraging students to get permits to carry concealed weapons. I do believe it is okay for the faculty and staff to do this, but to be greatly monitored while doing so.

I agree, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out
ReplyDeleteI dont believe that anyone on a campus should have a gun. Faculty should not be encouraging anybody to get licenses.
