Mother in Delaware Charged After Child Brings Heroin to Daycare By: Nina Bharadwaj, 2nd Period

     The police of Delaware arrested the mother (Ashley Tull) of a four-year-old girl, after it was discovered that the little girl had brought heroin to her daycare and then proceeded to hand it out to other young children. The women faced charges for maintaining drugs and posing a threat to the welfare of her child.
     The packets were discovered by officials after many of the children in the daycare center had been seen carrying similar little bags of an unrecognizable substance. The substance revealed itself to be heroin after testing. Sunday night, Tull had given her daughter a new backpack, as her old one was ruined. The young child had no clue that these bags were drugs. She had assumed they were candy and had begun to share them with others. The backpack had consisted of 249 bags of heroin which is equivalent to 3.735 grams.
     Ashley Tull also has two other children, a nine-year-old and an eleven-year-old. While Tull was released from jail on a $6,000 bond, her children are currently in possession of another relative.

This conflict has a tremendous amount of relevance to society today. Drugs have always been an issue for a long time, but now children are being affected, and that is never, under any circumstance, acceptable. This article was written for any audience and serves as a warning to be cautious of careless people like this who will leave harmful possessions in the hands of a small child. In a strange way, it is almost good that this situation took place because now officials have a logical reason to search this women's belongings. Because of the fourth amendment which protects those from search and seizure, the police would not have been able to reasonably demand to search this women's house. However, now officials have a probable cause to do so. Hopefully, her children will be protected from drugs from now on.
