Gay Men in Egypt Face Arrest - Vittorio Chillemi

While today there has been celebration in the US over the legalization of gay marriage in several states, there is grim news for gay men in Egypt. The Egyptian regime has upped its policy against gay men. While there technically isn't a law banning homosexuality, almost a hundred gay men have been arrested with accusations of "debauchery" and "prostitution." Many men have been arrested by the use of dating sites and apps, such as Grindr. Egypt is a nation with a majority Muslim population, and homosexuality remains a very taboo subject.

Honestly, did you expect a country where more than half of all girls are "circumcised" to be tolerant with the concept of homosexuality?

When I fight for gay rights, I am not only fighting for rights home. I also fight for the rights of every LGBTQ+ person on the planed.

  1. It's terrible that people in other countries are being arrested for being gay. In my opinion, this is a violation of human rights.

  2. What really gets me is that there are no laws against it in Egypt. How could they possibly have sufficient charges against homosexuals if there are no regulations that oppose their behavior?

  3. Any individual's sexual preference is a matter that should never be interfered upon, let alone punished for. It's sad to know that homosexuals are treated so inhumanely in this country.

  5. If the person is not bothering anyone or causing danger than I don't see the problem. Someones sexual preference is there decision not the governments.
