On Saturday night a man randomly oped fire at a cultural celebration in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The motive is ambiguous at this point, but it has been confirmed that five people, between the ages of 30 and 60, were injured at the Hmong New Year's years celebration. Of the five none are in critical condition, however one of the attendees could lose the lower half of his leg. Fortunately, at the time of the shooting, a police helicopter happened to be hovering nearby and observed the shooter fleeing from the crime. The shooter, nineteen year old Ming Mee and driver twenty one year old Boon Mee have both been arrested in regard to the incident. The Hmongs are an Asian ethnic group and there are an estimated 210,000 Hmongs living sporadically across the United States.
While it was incredibly fortuitous no one was killed, this detail does little to mitigate the seriousness of the offense or the repercussions that are sure to ensue. This is a blatant example for the need to place more restrictions upon the ownership of firearms. With lax guidelines, any idiot with a personal vendetta against society could prey upon the unassuming public. There have been too many recent tragedies involving people attempting to assert their positions by means of shooting other individuals down. All the unnecessary harm should be an eye opener for the public and the government; namely, don't assume any person with twenty/twenty vision and a state driver's license is entitled or qualified to own a gun. This particular shooting was less severe than others in many ways, such as no death toll and the perpetrators were caught almost immediately, but there was still irrevocable damage done. Moreover, what happens next time? What is there are no police nearby, or the shooters aim to kill? The only concrete solution to this ongoing conflict are tighter restrictions on guns.

Wow, today's society just seems so dramatic. I completely agree that there does need to be tighter restrictions regarding firearm and who can own them. This story is a prime example of that.
