As we all know for the past 8 days our government has been shit down. This is due to congress refusing to allow the debt ceiling to be raised. Luckily, speak of an end is now circulating around the nation. Obama has proposed to end the temporary shut down if the Republican house agrees to allow the ceiling to be raised. Basically an unconditional surrender. The House on the other does not like this but, they will agree to negotiate the ceiling and "other fiscal points." It is extremely important for them to come to a decision on this matter and quick given the October 17 deadline of when the nation has to pay it's bills. If the ceiling is not raised, the nation will not be able to pay it's bills causing a recession or worst. I find it disturbing that our nation has developed such an issue with in itself. When I heard the the government was "temporarily shut down" I was extremely confused as to what that meant and why. But now that I am reading and analyzing the situation myself, I feel like this a just the result of having a mostly republican house and a democratic president. It's harder for the president to do his job when his house isn't fully behind him. I feel they should just raise the debt ceiling and end this shut down. If the only other option is going into a reception or worst, why not just raise it and dissolve all of the tension. No one wants to go through another potential depression so why not take the actions that avoid that?

The shutdown has me concerned about my future, considering that college is a great expense, and especially since there's not a whole lot I can do to change it. By the way,,, typo
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, my mother is one of the government employees in this situation. There really needs to be a solution as soon as possible, or it will get worse.
