The College Board announced it will start giving students who take the SAT "adversity scores" to measure social and economic factors. The score will be calculated using factors that include crime rates and poverty levels of a student's neighborhood and high school. The board said that students will not be told what their adversity score is, but it will be sent to colleges.

I think this is a great thing that could help many get equal opportunities when it comes to applying for colleges. I know that often times financial state can affect a students performance since they are not always given the best environment where they can work and study. Also, the financial funding that the school that students attend can influence the type of resources that students are offered which can produce and unfair advantage to those students who are or higher class or attending a better funded school. I think this will help students who aren't given the same resources as others so that they can be given an equal opportunity to attend a college that can help them better their financial state.
