Transgender woman who was attacked in April found dead in Dallas -AYSHA JACKSON

Muhlaysia Booker was found face down in the street after a report of a shooting. This is the same women who was brutally beaten by 7 men after a minor traffic accident just a month prior. What was a minor situation was turned into a brutal hate crime that was recorded. One of the men arrested and prosecuted for the assault of the woman has not yet been linked to her murder.

You think you live in ‘the land of the free’ but we really don’t. We’ve grown
Up with this ideal that in America you can be whoever you want and have all this freedom but freedom isn’t the ruler of this country it’s oppression. There is a standard that the US has always followed and we do try to branch away from that at times but things like this happen. Now I don’t know who these men were but if it’s not whites oppressing blacks or whites being racist to Latinos and Hispanics then it’s men oppressing women. There seems to be a lot of that happening lately.

There’s this huge debate of pro-life and pro choice in the debate of abortion laws and to me this goes hand and hand with that. This was someone who chose how she wanted to live her life but at the end of the day what she wanted didn’t matter. In this land of the free it seems like we are confined to only make one choice when it’s been programmed into us that the options were endless.

  1. I looked this up, and a headline said that two transgender women of color have been killed in the same weekend. This is absolutely horrifying. It makes me scared about the world we live in. Are the people I care about safe? How can we as the public make it safer for them? How could the government help?
