Fiona Graybill- Woman killed by falling rock and ice at Yosemite National Park

On Sunday, a 56 year old woman ventured down a hiking path that was closed due to potentially dangerous conditions in California at this time of year. The National Park Service said that the hiker, Xuan Wang, was fatally hit by a mixture of ice and rocks.

Though yet to be addressed in class, an instance where nature took its toll on civilians was during the Dust Bowl. Much more widespread and caused in part because of man's doing, the Dust Bowl, along with this accident, claimed lives. We do not treat nature particularly well and sometimes, no matter how beautiful, mother earth retaliates and people get caught in the crossfire.
