          US Missle breakthrough can now intercept enemy ICBM's.
This is a massive upgrade to the U.S. defense system because of the ability to launch missiles off of ships to intercept ICBM's. It is said to still be in testing phase but also making smooth progress. One thing that made this possible is the ever increasing range missiles can be launched from.

      This relates to U.S. history because of how technology changes war. When tanks and machine guns were first invented, it completely changed how ground warfare worked, and now this new missile may change how war is fought once again.
