On Friday March 15, mosque shootings occurred in New Zealand. There were two different shootings at two mosques. This shooting killed 50 people and left 50 more injured, two being in critical condition. This event was shocking and has left many in grieve and mourning. Fortunately, a 28 year old male has been taken into custody and is facing murder charges for his white supremacist terrorist attacks.
However, it is not the only shocking thing that occurred. Fraser Anning, an Australian senator, made a statement talking about the mosque shootings using islamophobic language. Not only did Anning make a statement but has continued on Twitter. some of the things Anning said were, "The truth is that Islam is not like any other faith. it is the religious equivalent of facism. And just because the followers of this savage belief were not the killers in this instance, does not make them blameless," and,"Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?"
I could go on and on about how flawed and ugly Anning's statements are but I'll leave it up to you to share your opinion on the matter.

When I read your title, I thought that this may be over the same event covered in an article I just commented on, however it's not. This only make it more disappointing, and brings attention to the fact that there are so many issues in our nation, often that some people don't even know about or may claim to not exist (not that nobody knows about the Muslim prejudice in the U.S., but some may not).
