Dick Dale, a guitarist in the Pulp Fiction soundtrack passed away- Madi Haggard

Dick Dale, a guitarist, whose mesmerizing sound ran the California "surf rock" genre in the 1960s which made an appearance in "Pulp Fiction," passed at 81. Dale had been hospitalized recently for "issues related to his heart.” Moreover, his death has been confirmed by bassist Sam Bolle and drummer Dusty Watson, two former bandmates.  His singular, staccato picking follows the style of Middle Eastern music while influencing the Beach Boys, the Ventures and other surf-rock artists of the time.  Quentin Tarantino uses his music in the opening credits of "Pulp Fiction,”  He gives the song a new cool as well as a new audience.  The Black Eyed Peas sampled it prominently in "Pump It," and that same year it also appeared in a "Guitar Hero" video game.

This article shows how time passes, and life is short. This passing of a true artist brings back Pulp Fiction and can quickly bring together many ages old and young.  I reported on this article because I think it is important to remember what goes on in this world and be aware of past legendary icons.  This article was published on March 18, 2019, and was made to inform people of past artists that created significant influences on eras.

  1. How sad! His music is amazing and I hope that it lives on for many years to come. His Pulp Fiction contributions are significant, but one should really go listen to his other work!
