On Friday, President Trump threatened to shut down the U.S.-Mexico border on the week on March 31st if Mexico does not halt all illegal immigration. "We'll keep it closed for a long time. I'm not playing games," he said. This would restrict trade and be severely detrimental to Mexico's economy, as trade with the U.S. accounts for 80% of its trade with foreign countries. Last month, the president used his power to declare a national emergency to secure funding for the wall, which is perfectly within his rights to do, as Congress passed the National Emergencies Act in 1976.
This reminds me of when former president Ronald Reagan denied officials from Cuba entry to the U.S.

Do you really think he will get support from the House and Congress to be able to shut down the borders? Great article.
