jude holland - Bystanders film Old Woman kicked by man on subway

Recently, 36 year old Marc Gomez was arrested for repeatedly kicking a 76 year old lady while on a New York subway. Instead of helping, bystanders watched and filmed the incident with their cell phones, not doing anything as they watched Gomez repeatedly kick the woman until she was bleeding. He then got off the train, while the lady sat silently crying on the train, cell phones still filming. The police didn't find the video until recently, but the old lady was reported to have been attended by EMS as soon as she got off of the train.

I think this is a treble story that shows both how careless and self-absorbed people can be, and also that we can be negatively affected by out technology in many ways. Although cellular devices are good in most cases, if we didn't have them, someone wouldv'e almost certainly stepped in and helped the old lady rather than standing and filming. It shows how both childish, careless and selfish people can be in situations when it comes helping others, wether they are in need or danger.
