Multiple airlines, including Southwest, American and Delta, were forced to make their planes temporarily grounded early Monday morning due to a computer outage in a central system. This caused multiple flight delays and some cancellations. The Federal Aviation Administration said several airlines experienced issues with AeroData, which is a program that all of these airlines have. It provides weight and balance information that is necessary to be cleared for takeoff. The Federal Aviation Administration said that although it was the same system throughout all of the airline, the affects this morning varied by airline. Southwest Airlines flights were grounded for about 40 minutes. American spokesman Ross Feinstein made a statement and said, "This technical issue has been resolved. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.” Making everyone aware that it was safe to get on the planes.

This reminds me of the recent government shutdown, that had many affects including airfare. Airports were overcrowded and flights were delayed. This wasn’t exactly the same situation because it didn’t have to do with airplane issues, however it did result in crowded airports, extra security, and delayed flights. Although it must have been chaotic and stressful, it was actually a very short amount of time compared to what it could have been.
