The college admission process is significantly important for the future of a developing student. It is long, complex, and similarly, critical of a person. Unfortunately, word is out that a number of colleges use race and ethnicity as a factor for admitting students in their universities. The opposing side claims that the admission system is rigged with evidence showing 50 people taking part in a scheme that involved cheating on standardized tests and bribing coaches and school officials to accept students as college athletes regardless of their abilities on and off the field. The majority of the allegations are against wealthy parents, including famous actress Lori Loughlin, and they are robbing students the opportunity to gain admission into schools they deserve to be in.

This article was published by John Blake on March 17, and was updated at 1:53 AM ET. Before I looked at this article I believed I had an equal chance at a great education, just like everybody else in America did. It wasn't until I read this article that I realized there is no such thing as the "American Dream." America is filled with prejudice and racial discrimination, and it's embarrassing to live in this type of environment. Furthermore, the article was targeted towards the American population with the purpose of exposing corrupt practices of the universities, which similarly relates to what muckrakers did. This is important because the article exposed the horrible practices of colleges and I truly hope this changes because right now, I feel that all the hard work I put into school work is all for nothing.
It os really unfair to those students who work so hard to get into their dream schools and are let down because of their race or there is cheating going on ~Stephannie Hernandez
ReplyDeleteThis scandal is extremely sad because so many people work hard to get into colleges, but then their chances are getting taken away by those who are not really putting in the effort. I agree with you that this situation is embarrassing and I think that this must be fixed and stopped from ever happening again.
