Actors shut down parts of their brains to take on roles, scans reveal- Rachel DuBard

Neurologists have discovered that actors actually turn off a part of of the brain when adapting to a new character. Through a recent study, actors were asked to read for the well known characters, Romeo and Juliet. As these actors were hooked up to MRI machinary, scientists were surprised to see that a part of the frontal lobe shuts down.

This relates to history because for years now, scientists have been doing studies on the brain and how it functions during different activities. Typically, what’s looked for is an increase in brain activity. So what’s so interesting about this study is that there was a decrease in activity.
