George Clooney is calling for a boycott over nine hotels that have been linked to Brunei LGBTQ laws. The country said homosexuality would be punishable by death. It used to be that homosexuals could face being whipped or stoned in the tiny South East Asian state. George Clooney saw that Brunei became the first East Asian country to adopt Islamic Sharia law despite widespread condemnation. He responded by saying that they are violating human rights. Clooney is disgusted and is organizing boycotts across the hotels that were involved in this inhuman act. It is crazy to imagine that these things still go on in our world. Hopefully the boycotts are effective in making his point, because no one should ever be punished, especially by death, for their sexuality.

This relates to another event when many boycotts took place, protecting the LGBTQ community. People rallied outside of Chick-fil-a restaurants and protested. This was because they are an openly Christian company and have publicly stated that some of the workers in this fast food restaurant frown upon same sex marriages. These boycotts do not go unnoticed and their voices are being heard.
Its good that they are protecting the LGBTQ community because no one should be judged or treated a certain way because of there sexuality or what they believe in.
ReplyDeletePeople should not die because of who they want in their bed at the end of the night.
ReplyDeleteEmma Burkey: I think it's great that someone so famous is getting behind such an important cause. This must be set right because, as you said, no one should be punished for being who they are.
