Leslie Vasquez- Beto Enters 2020 Presidential Campaign

On March 14, Beto O'Rourke announced that he was running for president, saying that the problems in this country are the greatest in living memory and that if the people of the United States unite, we would be able to fix those problems. This announcement comes after much consideration from Beto and his supporters when he lost the senate run for Texas to Republican Ted Cruz. During the senate race, Beto was able to spur up support from every state, not just Texas. Because of this, supporters have been wishing for him to run for the presidency in 2020. However, Beto now joins a very crowded group, with Democrats such as Bernie Sanders and possibly Joe Biden. With this in mind, some say that having another white male run for the presidency might be problematic due to the success of women and people of color being elected in other states for senate seats. Also, some strategists are wary of Beto's "do it on his own" way of running the campaign.

I think it's a good thing that Beto is running for president. He was able to get massive support and works to focus on all types of people and do better by them. However, it could be a tight race between him and Bernie due to Bernie's popularity during the 2016 presidential run. Either way, there are candidates that truly want to work with the people of the United States to change society for the better, and Beto is seen as one.
