China offers help to Venezuela to restore power- Yesenia Ramirez Monroy

Recently last week China offered to help Venezuela restore its power grid, since China was concerned on what had occurred. This is due to a similar case that occurred in China on where the power grid had gone down due to a hacking attack. President Nicolas Maduro accused the U.S.," Donald Trump"of cyber "sabotage" and blamed him for the blackout. The large blackout thought the country has led to bigger issues in communities especially in hospitals by trying to keep equipment running, food has begun to rotted due to tropical heat and exports from the country's oil terminal were shut down. The blackout has also passed records with its last of 6 days and is still going; however, light has been restored in most areas of the country which has relieved some people. This case has been investigated and its been said that the cause of this blackout was due to a technical problem with the transmission lines.

This article was published by Reuters on March the 13,2019 with the purpose of making citizen's all over the world aware of the current situation in Venezuela. Thought this year we have seen how Venezuela has been going through a crisis on were many people are know becoming desperate for help and don't know what to do. This is also due to their president neglecting other countries help for example when the U.S. sent food supply, but got burned down by Venezuela at the frontier. This current event reminds me of the Jacksonian Era during his presidency on when trying to increase the power of the executive branch and created the National bank to stabilize the U.S. economy. However later on he closed it leading to an economic depression called "The Panic of 1837", which correlates to Venezuela's economic crisis.

  1. It is despicable how the power hungry people currently in charge of Venezuela have allowed this violation of the country’s human rights to play out. While it is commendable for China to attempt to fix this, it is clear this will be used to assert dominance over Venezuela.
