The sad loss of her cousin is what empowered her to do as well as she did. This relates to history in the sense that many people in the army would always have something or someone to fight for. The motivation is what they needed to survive and then eventually win the war. Tia-Clair Toomey won that gold medal for her beloved cousin and did all she could to make her proud just how men would in the army.

Woman Wins Gold Medal In Body Building After Family Tragedy- JJ Jankovsky
Tia-Clair Toomey wins gold medal in body building after loss of her cousin, Jade Dixson, due to a car crash. She dedicated her winning lift to her Jade. She always said that her cousin was the most kind and genuine person she had ever known. Dixson would have been at the Carrara Sport and Leisure Centre to watch her older cousin win her first major weightlifting title had the car she was a passenger in not crashed into a tree and killed her.
