Sam Romine - Zuckerberg Testifies: Seven Things to Look Out For

Since the Facebook Cambridge Analytica Scandal, in which the data of many millions of Facebook users were leaked to Cambridge Analytica. This data leakage has caused a public uproar, which has dragged Mark Zuckerberg out of the computer lab and into capital hill. The testimony of Zuckerberg is important because rarely does Congress get the chance to interrogate someone of his authority and influence.

Because of the lack of technology in the past, this scandal is different from all others in American history, but some parallels can be drawn to the Teapot Dome Scandal under the Harding Administration. Both involved acts of corruption for a third party; Teapot Dome being Albert Bacon Fall allowing oil companies to drill in government owned land for a bribe, and Cambridge Analytica being the collection of Facebook users data. With the testimony, hopefully many questions about the incident can be answered.

  1. I’ve always had a feeling that social media would misuse our private information. I’m curious to see what this interrogation brings up.

  2. How many times has the government used our information without our consent for their benefit?
