Oklahoma Teacher Walkout
Due to insufficient government funding, students in Oklahoma have had to deal with poor school conditions for a long time. Finally, teachers have had enough. Two weeks ago, teachers stormed the state capitol to protest for more funding in schools and higher raises for support staff and themselves. Many teachers across the country support the movement, and teachers from West Virginia even gave advice from their own protests.
This reminds me an awful lot of the newsboys strike in 1999. Just like the boys, these teachers are unhappy with their working conditions and decide to go on strike to protest their “boss” (the government in this case). I think it is a good thing their doing and I agree the government needs to step up. Hopefully, this protest will be just as successful as the newsboys and justice will be made.
I noticed that the teachers noticed the problem, and they took it upon themselves to find a solution. That’s how the community should work together to make a change
ReplyDeleteIts so good that teachers are exercising the rights and fighting for more fair wages.
ReplyDeleteIt is good that the teachers are doing this. The education system is so underfunded with educators and students alike both losing in the grand scheme of things.
