Plastic Eating Microbe!- Ellen Fritz

Scientists have been working on and developing a plastic-eating enzyme that could combat the Earth's pollution crisis. While examining the structure of a waste-eating enzyme found in a waste recycling center in Japan, researchers from Britain's University of Portmouth found that the enzyme could break down the plastics of water bottles. This advancement could help reduce the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a huge collection of trash (thats 3 times the size of France) in the pacific ocean.

This biological engineering could reduce pollution, especially if easily biodegradable plastics or containers become more widely used. I relate this to the environmental conservation movement during Roosevelt's presidency.
