Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will meet Monday with law officials, including members of committees holding hearings this week regarding the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The company has faced backlash since news broke last month that Cambridge Analytica, a London-based data analytics group that worked for the 2016 Trump campaign, was able to obtain information about tens of millions of users.
Zuckerberg is scheduled to go before a joint hearing of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees on Tuesday, and then the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday. It is important to remember that we cannot always trust social media, and that we should not post our entire lives because of security. You never know when something like this could happen where officials can see all of your data. This is similar to the Watergate Scandal, where government officials had been lying to US citizens, leading to a distrust in the government.
