Marine  Corps Col. Lorna Mahlock was nominated to serve as the first black brigadier general. She was nominated by President Trump. Currently right now Mahlock is the deputy director of operations, plans, policies and operations directorate in Washington. I connect this to history because of the gender shift between the male and the female when the US was fighting in WWI there was a shift and gender roles on the homefront. Women were needed in more manly per say roles. So this women being nominated for this role which supposedly a man’s  role causes a major impact.
