Liam Wise - Israel's Potential to Strike

Recently, a full military strike was carried out against a Syrian military base near Homs. Israel, whom many countries suspect to be the aggressor, has yet to comment on the situation. These organized strikes are assumed to be retaliation for the chemical attack that occurred in Duoma just 2 days earlier. These chemical attacks are a bloody trademark of Bashar Al-Assad's corrupt control of Syria's fragile government, which continually crosses Israel's "red line". This political line includes such things as blocking any breach of Israeli sovereignty and making sure Iran doesn't entrench themselves within Syria. Israeli Army Radio has reported that the attacked base was originally a Syrian outpost but was recently repurposed for use by Syrian and Iranian military contingents. This was a clear violation of Israel's wishes. Just as they won't accept Iranian military presence in Syria, Israel considers Iran a major threat to the safety of their citizens. Israel has shown repeatedly that they intend to defend their interests from any Iranian infringement, and will continue to do so as the fighting in Syria escalates.
