Charles Thomas, a young diplomat within the state department, killed himself at age 48 in 1971. His death certificate said he had shot himself in his family's bathroom. Decades later Thomas's family is claiming that they have been denied the truth of what actually happened. They are now pleading Trump to release classified documents including the JFK files.
His family is convinced that Thomas lost everything he had because he was persistent on opening the JFK investigation once again in the late 60s. He discovered Lee Harvey Oswald had been in contact with Cuban spies who wanted to kill Kennedy. His colleagues claimed that this information would threaten the credibility of the Warren report making the government less reliable to the public. Shortly after, he lost an important job promotion. His family claims this was not an accident.
In 1992, Congress passed the JFK Assassination Records Collection Act requiring the assassination documents to be released 25 years later. Trump delayed the release of these documents and once released it was found that several important details were scratched out. This left America wondering what was being hidden from us. The family of Charles Thomas says that if documents on one of America's most famous faces was kept secret from us they believe Thomas's records are being hidden as well.
