Henry Haas-Teacher Protests cause Problems
The walkout from teachers in the school districts of Oklahoma has caused some consequences that may shape young student’s lives. The teacher’s protest has led to many parents being forced to put their children on childcare plans, and many of the children relying on the public school system for lunch now have to find their food elsewhere. These two factors have culminated in one huge problem for the federal government. On top of this, however, students will still be required to take state and standardized tests, and with no help from teachers for a couple of weeks now the scores are gonna be a lot lower than they would’ve been otherwise. All in all I believe this was a very selfish thing to do on the teacher’s part, as their job is to help the kids grow, and I believe they’ve failed them in that regard. Now that it has happened, however, I hope the legislature does something to fix it or the teachers drop the topic, though at this point it seems like a bit of a lost cause. This remids me of peaceful protests held during the civil rights movement, but I don’t believe these to be as warranted.

Honestly the protests are very much warranted. Teachers across America, specifically Tulsa, are extremely underpaid with many being forced to take up extra jobs in order to provide for their families. On top of this, many of these schools are not properly equipped with the right tools such as archaic books and deteriorating buildings.
