Michigan will no longer give free bottled water to residents of Flint, Michigan. Flint has struggled with unsafe levels of lead in their water supply since 2014, and most of their population isn't comfortable drinking or showering in tap water. Officials have been working on replacing thousands of lead lines bringing water into the city and now say “We have worked diligently to restore the water quality and the scientific data now proves the water system is stable and the need for bottled water has ended,” However, most of their population say “We did not cause the man-made water disaster, therefore adequate resources should continue being provided until the problem is fixed and all the lead and galvanized pipes have been replaced,”
In my opinion, I agree with the residents of Flint. The crisis has hurt many children and adults in the area, 12 have contracted Legionnaire's disease. I would also be skeptical of any progress, and would expect free water until the problem was totally fixed.
