Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook recently went on trial for Facebook’s privacy policy as they have been accused of sharing people’s personal data that they had collected without the people’s knowledge. The trial was expected to be a very difficult one for Zuckerberg; however, the trial turned out to be nowhere near as difficult for him due to the congressmen's little knowledge of technology. The congressmen's small knowledge of what the purpose of Facebook was also helped Zuckerberg’s case. It was described in the article I read as “like watching your grandfather try to understand how they got the internet onto your new MacBook Pro”.
I really wish the congressmen had a better understanding of Facebook and its technology so that they could have worked through this case more justly. Because as it stands, I feel like the case was unfairly put onto these old congressmen with no knowledge of technology when it probably should have been put on some younger people who have a better understanding of tech.
Synthesis
I believe this partial relates to what happened fitting the industrial revolution when some older people didn’t want to industrialize because they wanted thing to stay how they were and didn’t know about industrialization.
