Current events #1 Ian Hille

Yesterday, hundreds of Oklahoma schools were closed for the teachers march to protest better pay for themselves and support staff. In addition they demanded $150,000,000 to replace damaged, outdated textbooks and to fund electives. Yesterday was a great day for them as they gained more traction and publicity for their cause.

I think it is great that they are taking a stand and protesting their poor teaching environments. Hopefully this should help them to fix up their schools and provide the electives and textbooks the students need to thrive.

Synthesis
I think this relates to the somewhat relates to the different protests that we are learning about right now including he civil rights protests in which people were fighting for equal rights, somewhat like what the teachers were doing to gain a more equal pay in relation to the other teachers of the country.

  1. Districts need to improve their conditions overall in their dedicated areas, from education to housing units.

  2. I agree that this relates back to the civil rights protests. I admire these teachers for being brave enough to stand up for what they believe in.
