So, President Trump ordered a strike on Syria for their use of chemical weapons; however, he didn't consult congress for approval. Synthesis on this is unbelievably easy with LBJ's Gulf of Tonkin Resolution and the passage of the War Powers Act in 1973 to check and balance the president's military power. In addition, Trump's usually contradictory attitude towards almost everything also came into play, with him tweeting about the possibility of Former President Obama's launch of missiles without Congressional approval.
