Spring break has now ended for the survivors of the recent tragic school shooting, and as they come back they see how much their school has changed, and it's not quite what's needed. Now students feel like they're in prison, with little privacy because of the clear plastic bags now in use, the students make a clear point that this wont solve the problem at all, you could still hide a weapon in the bag, and this doesn't even completely solve the problem because the gun man wasn't even a current student. The students recognize that really this plastic bag solution is just something school officials forced onto them to seem as though the problem is really solved. To show this students have also began to place an orange price tag on their bags to show how politicians and officials would rather spend money on quick and unhelpful solutions rather than actual ways to prevent shooting. Students also point out how this is a breech of privacy and how it would be much easier to just install metal detectors; however, they are unsure of the possibility of the school agreeing.
This article shows how history simply repeats its self, most of those in power that are more on the side of caring for only people that they relate to, will not give any leeway to those that are suppressed and giving their all to be heard. School shooting have been a problem for ages, Columbine being one of the first major ones, and we have yet to make any major changes. It also seems that weeks or months surrounding an indecent become the center of attention, rules are enforced like ID badges and such, but after a few weeks people competently forget about what happened and go on with their regular life, only for the same thing to happen again. Even I feel as though I've had to write the same statement with every mass shooting in America, every time a horrible event happens, nothing is done to solve it. Even with the horrible LA shooting where a large sum of people were killed, no major changes were made, how many lives must be sacrificed for change, I honestly wonder if a day of change can and will come to this country.
