All of West Virginia’s teachers have been on strike for over a week - Chloe Walker

In West Virginia for over a week, thousands of teachers have been protesting over their unfair and benefits of their payment. The strike began on Thursday, February 22. Governor Justice then signed  a legislation providing teachers a salary increase starting in July. The salary increase isn't enough for teachers since its only been raised by 2%. The Senate then finally approved a bill Saturday evening for a 4% percent towards teachers. Teachers' protest have effected all 55 counties in West Virginia. All counties in West Virginia have had closed schools for more than a week.

This article was written by Emily Stewart from Vox. I have some knowledge of this subject before this article. What I didn't know was that the teachers' protests were strong enough to cancel school for over a week long. This article was written to inform those about the unfair salary for teacher in West Virginia. This article has a neutral effect on the reader but it is still sad to see teacher getting underpaid. This article is important because it brings attention towards the importance of teachers in the U.S. The teachers in West Virginia will soon inspire more protests and action towards whats necessary in the U.S.
