A Close Call: V-Type Asteroid by Jules Stowe

Goldstone Observation witnessed the passing of an asteroid, orbiting only 3.76 lunar distances away from Earth. It was classified as a "near-Earth object" and was officially considered to be potentially hazardous, being noted as one of the closest accounts of an asteroid approach ever recorded.

Asteroids were initially thought to be a result of Jupiter's gravity flinging Dwarf planets towards and around each other throughout space; however, through the development and evolution of technology, it has become clear that the Asteroid belt is additional debris from other planets as well as extraneous space trash.
