At Spain Elementary-Middle School in Detroit, the halls are filled with a musty scent, the wooden floors are destroyed due to rain damage, and children are unable to play on the playground because of how unsafe it is. Workers at the school are worried of how the instability of the school may have a negative effect on students and their futures. The school is unable to provide necessary items to help the students succeed and as a result, students are failing and cannot do their best work. Detroit Public school officials say they get several complaints over the school but, have to prioritize due to the amount of debt the district is in.
This entire situation is terrible in many ways, but mostly for the fact that it's taking a toll on children and their futures. The school clearly hasn't always been this way, but now that things have gone downhill, there are only a third of the students that there were years ago. Workers at the school say they've been lied to by bankers, which is one of the many reasons they remain in debt. Employees are leaving, kids are failing, and no changes are being made. Action needs to be taken soon so that the students can earn in a safe and educational environment, and the district can recover from all it's debt.

I agree with you, I think they need to make this one of their priorities in the district. I don't think the kids should have to suffer because the district is in debt.
