Leslie Kelly: All You Need to Be a Modern Digital Stalker Is a Smartphone

I'm sure everyone has come across a Tumblr or Facebook page called something like Men Eating Cotton Candy or Women Putting on Makeup in Public. I know I have plenty of times and never really thought twice about them (though I never left comments on them). But when you think about it, just how ethical is it to snap a picture of a total stranger doing something that has nothing to do with you and then put it on the internet where it may be subject to inexplicably harsh criticism and unwanted exposure? Those in defense of these blogs point out that it's all just harmless fun and once someone leaves the house they relinquish their right to keep their image private. Do they? Being accidentally caught in a stranger's picture in the background is one thing, but being purposefully photographed and laughed at by strangers on the internet is another.
