Van with children driven into river; mother charged with attempted murder- Jordan willis 2nd pd.

SUMMARY:

49 year old Joann Smith was accused of trying to kill her 3 teenagers, ages 13, 14, and 15, by driving her van into the Delaware River. This occurred after a Florida woman, Ebony Wilkerson, drove her minivan with her three children, ages 3, 9, and 10 into the Atlantic Ocean. Although she was trying to keep the rescuers from pulling her children out of the minivan and fought her son for control of the car, she claimed she was only trying to drive to the surf, not into it and denied trying to harm her children. Joann Smith was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of endangering the welfare of children. And Ebony Wilkerson was charged with three counts of first-degree murder as well.

Analysis:

People today have just gone completely insane, driving the car full of children into bodies of water. I was very appalled when I read this, it's completely unbelievable the people would do such a thing. Are children really that unwanted now-a-days?  If your child is really that unwanted, there is no need to kill or harm them, give them to people/a family who does want them if anything. It's very odd that these two incidents happened within weeks of one another, it makes me think and wonder if the second incident occurred because of the first one, if the actions of others on the news really affect people and push them to do the sick things that they do.
