Summary:
On Monday, the New York City fire department began to investigate why an ambulance showed up late to a house fire that took place on Saturday. The house fire killed two young children. The fire department rules say that the paramedics/ambulance has to leave immediately as soon as they get an emergency phone call. In this case, the ambulance showed up 20 minutes late. Fire department investigators were putting together a timeline to try to figure out the cause of the delay.
Analysis:
An ambulance or any emergency vehicle should never have a delay such as this one, especially in the case of a house fire. People were in need of immediate help and no paramedics were there to do their job. Maybe those poor kids could have lived if they had not showed up 20 minutes late. I understand why these police department investigators are trying to solve the reason why this happened, so that it never happens again.

Stories like this one make me so sad! There should not have been a delay like this, and if the department had operated the way it is supposed to, the kids might have even lived, like you said.
