Police identify person of interest in Ethan Vasquez murder - Camille Vigil

This Tuesday, at the cross streets of Monticello and Homer in the M Streets neighborhood of Dallas, 13 year old Ethan Vasquez was killed and his mother, Sandy Vasquez, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run car accident. The two suspects of the accident ran a stop sign at the intersection and slammed into the Vasquezes' car, which caused their car to then slam into another man's car. The man in the other car suffered no serious injuries and even tried to help the mother and son victims before medics arrived. The suspects were driving a stolen Chrysler Town and Country minivan, and according to witness reports, did not seem to make an attempt to slow down or hit the breaks before ramming into the Vasquezes' car. The two suspects fled the scene on foot, and were arrested Friday in Florida. Police are now working to extradite them to Texas for trial. The students at Travis have tied orange ribbons - orange was Ethan's favorite color - in memory of Ethan, and are finding ways to remember their classmate.
Ethan was a 7th grader at William B. Travis TAG middle school (not far from booker t). I went to Travis, and it makes me sick to know that such a young kid was killed because of some stupid criminals' lack of common sense. This kid was probably very smart and likely had an incredibly bright future. He probably would have gone on to go to Townview TAG or SEM high schools (both very prestigious schools for those who didn't know), as many students from Travis do, and would have then gone on to living a very happy and successful life. Travis is such a small and close-knit school, and I can only imagine the toll it's taken on everyone there. Ethan will always be a member of the Travis family, and may he rest in peace.

  1. So incredibly sad, especially since the boys older brother went to our school and was a well known person, so glad the person was identified and theyre starting to get justice.
